New earthquake felt on São Jorge
The Azores Seismovolcanic Information and Surveillance Center (CIVISA) recorded a new earthquake felt on São Jorge in the early hours of Saturday.
So far, around 246 earthquakes have been identified, which were felt by the population.
The last earthquake felt was recorded at 01:28 am this morning, with a magnitude of 1.6 on the Richter Scale and an epicentre one kilometre from Velas, and was felt with grade III on the Modified Mercalli Scale in Santo Amaro.
The seismic activity that has been recorded on March 19 on the island of São Jorge continues, according to CIVISA, “above normal”.
