Tropical storm expected
Rain and strong wind on Thursday and Friday

Tropical Storm Gaston is expected to cause sometimes heavy rain on Thursday, on the islands of Flores and Corvo, in the Azores, while wind gusts of 90 kilometres per hour on those islands are forecast for Friday, revealed the Portuguese Weather Institute, IPMA.
In a statement, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) said that Friday, at 18:00, is expected to be the time when the tropical storm “is closest to the archipelago” (130 kilometres north of Corvo) .
The influence of the storm should start to be felt on Thursday, in the Western Group (Flores and Corvo) of the archipelago, “with precipitation that can be sometimes heavy, with the period with the strongest wind on the 23rd [Friday]. ] in the afternoon on Flores and Corvo islands with gusts of the order of 90 kilometres per hour”, reads the note.
On Thursday, adds the IPMA, “periods of rain should also occur, starting with the Central Group [Terceira, Graciosa, São Jorge, Pico and Faial] and extending to the Eastern Group [São Miguel and Santa Maria]”.
“The most active part of this storm, in terms of wind and precipitation, should occur to the north of the archipelago”, according to the current trajectory of the storm, the IPMA also indicates.
