First Pingo Doce opens on São Miguel

After the opening of the first Pingo Doce store in the Azores, on the island of Santa Maria, on the 8th of December, it was time for the opening of the first store of this supermarket chain on the island of São Miguel.
Thus, through the Finançor Group, in the municipality of Vila Franca do Campo, the doors of another large commercial area were opened yesterday, which, as Romão Braz explained to Rádio Atlântida, reflects a time investment of about three months until reaching its final phase and the date of its respective inauguration.
In the interview given to the Azorean radio in question at the time of the opening of this store, and it was already possible to notice the movement of customers that took place there in the first moments after the opening of the space, the Vice-President of the Board of Directors of Finançor explained that this is the result of a total refurbishment that, although achieved in “record time”, had to be done in stages, hoping that “customers feel the big difference in the investment that was made”.
On the occasion, Romão Braz stressed that this is also “a new phase in the company’s history”, since this new Pingo Doce store, which has a team of 61 employees, all of them trained to respond to the objectives of this new space, is also the result of the acquisition of a company that is being recovered, which leads Finançor to believe that “it is doing what it set out to do”.
In total, he pointed out, the new Pingo Doce store has 1650 square metres of sales area, with “more than 300 suppliers from the Azores”, among them “seven or eight from Vila Franca do Campo”, thus guaranteeing the presence of many Azorean products, included in several categories.
“We have had an assortment that meets the needs of our customers and that means having products that are not only Azorean, but all Azorean products with quality and at a competitive price are available in our stores. Even in the wine cellar we have a specific area with wines from the Azores. And the fresh area is all very strong and from the Azores, all the fish, all the meat, a large part of the dairy products and a part of the fruits and vegetables, because we have this commitment”, he explained when he was interviewed for the said radio station.
In addition, Romão Braz stressed that this is a store “with a different concept”, as it also has a restaurant with 94 seats, including a terrace, where it is now possible to have full meals or take home ready-to-eat food.
As he added, this is also a space that also intends to meet the needs of tourists visiting the county, taking into account the resumption of tourism that is expected in the coming months, especially with the arrival of summer.
